Poltergeist location map, correlation graph, ASSAP intervention and convention PA Freiburg, partnership and team

1) Graphics showing the location of sites with search functions

A new feature has also been added. It allows you to view the locations of poltergeist cases directly on a map. The cases to be located can be selected according to: their historical period, their duration, the level of testimony attributed, the presence of certain types of event (choice from 93 phenomenological parameters).

Most cases are located using the GPS coordinates of the town where they took place (it's rare for us to have a precise address). Some cases, for reasons of anonymity, have only one declared region, or even one country (rare). In this case, the GPS coordinates are those of the region or the central city of the region, and for the country it's the GPS coordinates of the capital. These points are generally specified in the location commentary in the case file.

From the general view, where you can move or zoom in and out, you can click on a case to see the location, the year, and any comments on the location and date. Clicking on show details gives you access to the detailed case file.

 2)      Possibilities for studying correlations between the characteristics of poltergeist cases

The system offers the option of choosing a reference feature and looking at which features are most correlated with it (i.e. those features for which there are the most simultaneous occurrences of their presence on cases). In %, the system gives the number of times these characteristics are present simultaneously in relation to the number of cases of the reference characteristic.

You can choose to compare specific characteristics, or ask for the most correlated ones to be displayed.

This function therefore answers the question: what % of cases with this reference characteristic also have this other characteristic?

There's an inverse function to answer the question: what % of cases of the characteristic to be compared also have the reference characteristic (useful when the characteristic to be compared is present in more cases than the reference characteristic).
In this case, the number of simultaneous occurrences is related to the number of cases concerned by the characteristic to be compared (and not the reference characteristic).

This study can be carried out after filtering cases according to historical period, duration or level of testimony.

Example: correlation search in normal mode for the parameter "associated with a place".

In these "location-related" cases, we find more nocturnal events, banging on walls and imitation noises, lasting more than a year with apparitions.

Search for "agent under 20" parameter

We find cases lasting less than a year, mostly daytime events, which have been investigated, and these agents under 20 years of age are more often female (although this distinction is more valid for older cases than more recent ones).
The criterion of small objects thrown is less interesting, as the number of cases involving small objects thrown is greater than that of agents under 20 years of age.

 3)      Interventions media

Our project was presented to ASSAP (Association for the Scientific Study of Anomalous Phenomena) on June 17.

It will also be presented at the PA (Parapsychological Association) convention to be held next week from July 15 to 18 in Freiburg, Germany, hosted by the IGPP. (Institut für Grenzgebiete der Psychologie und Psychohygiene), with Michaël Nahm and Gerald Mayer. We look forward to seeing you there.

 4)      Partnership and team building around the project

We're expanding the team to handle the new cases referred to us (notably by Paul Cropper who is part of the team and Keith Linder). There are over 2,000 cases to be processed, covering Asia, Africa, the Middle East and South America.
Work is in progress at the A-IMI (Institut Métapsychique International), hauntings and poltergeist group, for precise analyses of the poltergeist field using data from the macropk.org database. Discussions are underway with the SPR's SCC (Spontaneous Case committee) to participate in their working group.

Martine Dagosneau has offered to work on the linguistic consistency of the site.
In fact, we've given priority to getting the site online quickly in 5 languages to demonstrate our commitment to this multilingual aspect, but there are still a number of errors/contradictions on the site. Our short-term objective is to ensure that the site's overall operation is based on correct translations. With Martine we are currently revising the English and German aspects. We also need to integrate Spanish and Italian skills into the team in order to check/modify the menus, basic procedures and pages of the site (excluding the database). Anyone with an interest in this area is welcome.

We are also preparing partnerships to develop information on the physical mediumship and ongoing experiments on the Macro-Pk.
Contacts are underway with Óscar Iborra regarding Spanish cases.

If you would like to contribute your skills to this project, please do not hesitate to contact me directly by simply returning this email.

 5)      Future actions

After a focus on fine-tuning the Poltergeist features, we're going to work in 3 areas

-          Analysis and integration of over 2,000 new poltergeist cases (which will take some time!)

-          The development of the physical mediums aspect with

o   Complementing the database in terms of players

o   Additional data on phenomenological aspects

-          Experimental aspects, with information on

            o   Rotating objects

            o   Metal bending
