Clarification of the testimonial level and detail level indicators

A way to qualify cases

A large proportion* of the cases in our repository have in their description a witness level (1 to 10) according to the following characteristics:

- Number of witnesses identified

- First-hand or second-hand testimony

- Time lapse between event and report

- Existence of audio, photo or video recordings

So typically, a case that consists simply of a distant recollection by a second-hand witness will be rated 1, and a case with a continuous instrumental recording of events by competent people will be rated 10.

They also have a level of detail (1 to 5) according to :

- Quotation in a book or on the Internet

- Full article in a daily newspaper

- Full article in a spiritual magazine or newsletter

- Full article in a peer-reviewed parapsychological/scientific journal

- Day-to-day account of events (event diary) by main witness. (5)

Of course, the evaluation remains subjective, but it gives a good indication.

These parameters can be used in a multi-criteria case search.

*: In the initial database put online in November 2024, nearly 800 cases have these indicators.
