A few tips for the different search modes in the Macro-PK database
General operation of searches and consultation screens
For all searches, you'll get a list with the option of sorting by column by clicking on the triangle icons (diamonds) at the top of the columns.
Click on the eye in the last column on the right to see the details.
To return, click on "Back to results list" at the top of the page, then "Back to search form".
For all searches, you can also leave the parameters unselected and obtain the complete list.
For poltergeist cases, the penultimate column shows the case characteristics (parameters describing the events).
Simply click on the down arrow to see details of all the types of events reported for this case.
You will find here a tutorial on how to search the Poltergeist database , the principles being the same for other bases .
Different types of search
Simple search
Go to simple search, select nothing and click on “Search”.
You'll get a list with the option of sorting by column by clicking on the diamond icons at the top of the columns.
If you're looking for a particular country, period or both, simply select the relevant parameters
Full-text search
You have in mind the name of a person, a project, a city,...
Go to Full text search and enter the corresponding text.
The system will display a list of cases, mediums and researchers for which this text appears in one of the parameters.
Multi-criteria search
For the latter you can refine your search using multiple criteria (country, duration, level of testimony, ...) and even choose in the characteristics if it's for a poltergeist case or a medium (in this case click on Show characteristics and click on the desired characteristics). Then click on Search.
In the case of poltergeists, you can also start by entering a text and combining it with the other search criteria.
Note : As far as the poltergeist database is concerned, the current database is not yet very comprehensive in terms of links between cases and investigators. For the time being, therefore, it is often more efficient to perform a search combining text (the name searched for) and the other search criteria desired.
